SUBSTITUTIONS

BUTTERMILK

You can use the same amount of these substitutes as you would 1 cup of regular buttermilk.

Soy Buttermilk
1 cup of soy milk + 2 tbsp white vinegar. Let stand for 5 minutes before using.
Almond Buttermilk
1 cup almond milk + 2 tbsp white vinegar. Let stand for 5 minutes before using.
Vegan Sour Cream Buttermilk
1 cup vegan sour cream + 1/2 cup water. Mix really well. (You can use regular sour cream for a non-vegan option)
Dairy Milk
1 tablespoon of white vinegar + enough dairy milk to measure 1 cup.  Let stand for 5 minutes.
Yogurt
3/4 cup of plain yogurt + ¼ cup milk. Stir well. (You can replace these with soy options)
Cream of Tartar
1 3/4 teaspoons cream of tartar + 1 cup milk. Stir well.
